HISTORICAL SITES - The Bates-Scofield Homestead: c. 1736
A classic New England saltbox named for the Bates family, who built and owned the original farmhouse, and the Schfields who later occupied it.
- Darien Historical Society The Society maintains the Bates-Scofield Homestead and houses local historical archives. It also has an excellent collection of quilts, over 1,500 antique costumes including accessories of men, women and children’s hats, fans and paisley shawls dating from the mid 18th Century to 1935. Located at 45 Old Kings Highway North.
